SALEM WITCHCRAFT

My experience with reading the Salem Story was very frightening. The whole time I thought about what if I lived there during that time. The thought of the devil at that time scares me completely. I would hate to have lived in that time. I would not be a witch because I love the lord to much. Eventhough, the thought of flying is very exhilarating. I have learned that nineteen witches was hanged at Gallows HIll in 1692. Giles Cory was totured for refusing to enter a plea at his trial. Five other including and infant died in prison. The witches were very mean and evil. If witches still existed, today then our world would be crazy. Many witches back in the day was seemed as nice people but were really witches behind it all. The witches if a person testified against them the witches would cast spells on the person in the courtroom. Governor William Phips had grown with anger when his wife was mentioned by the afflicted witches. He suspended the special Court of Oyer and Terminer he had established earlier to hear witchcraft cases. He replaced it with a new Superior Court of Judicature which did not allow spectral evidence. This court condemned only three of fifty-six defendants. Phips pardoned them along with five others awaiting exectution. In 1693 Phips pardoned the poeple who were still in prison on witchcraft charges. They were free which they could pay their jail bills.Reverend Joseph Green, who in 1697 succeeded Samuel Parris as minister in Salem Village. Green reshuffled his congregation's traditional seating plan, placing foes beside one another. Ann Putnam was one of the leading accusers, who was forced to give a public apology. The state of Massachusetts repented the Salem witch hunt in stages. IN 1711 the legislature passed a bill restoring the rights and good names of some of the victims awarding restitution to their heirs. In 1992 Massachusetts apologized to the town of Salem which dedicated memorials to the witches. These stories I have read seem not real but they really are. I know on Halloween nights I need to watch out just in case the slain Witches come back from the dead.

GROWTH FOR ENG 11 1ST QUARTER

Eng 11--

I think i have grown as a better reader. I can read a little more quicker than what I used to do. I am learning more from the books and actually getting the theme and the understanding of the book. I think myself as growing of a writer better than ever. I am using bigger words instead of quickly im saying vigoursly. I am actually surprised on how my words are growing with all the vocabulary we are learning. I think i will need to work more on my fragment and getting more detail in my writing. I want to give the reader a picture in their brain. I like telling people about what I read. I would actually rather use this website than write out something for my teacher. I think that Im putting more answers in my group. Last year I wouldnt' speak because I felt like if I said something people would think I was stupid now Im more open about my answers.

ANGLEA,ALEX&JESSICA'S TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD LIT CIRCLE!

Okay. So today in my lit circle,Angela made a great connection with today’s world about how people judge other people by what they hear from other people. Scout and Jem judge Boo Radley from what they have heard about the people in the neighborhood. Boo who lives in a beat down house and doesn’t come out is known as a criminal in the town. Scout and Jem are not to go outside at night because that is when Boo comes out. Scout and Jem judged Boo as a criminal due to other people’s opinions. They judged him incorrectly. They find out later that Boo is not a scary person. He is actually a nice man. Boo is very shy around people and he knew that other people judged him. Boo only peaked outside of his window because nobody would go near his house. People judge people today by if they have done terrible stuff and think they are a bad person. But when people actually meet them they feel terrible for judging them by somebody else’s opinion.

What does Magazine Covers Tell Us?

What does magazine covers tell us?

Teen, Seventeen, Glamour, and PopStar are just a few names of the popular magazines. Magazines are everywhere showing celebrities faces plastered all over the cover. Do they really tell the truth? People never really know what goes on in the Los Angeles and Hollywood area. All these magazines broadcast certain lifestyles that people should live or what is in style. Magazines have a huge impact on our teenage society today.
The book “Cut” begins with a girl named Callie. Callie cuts herself and is brought to a rehab center who seeks treatment. Callie does not speak in her group sessions. She abuses herself by cutting her arm with sharp objects or whatever she can find. Callie blames herself for her brothers sickness of asthma. Realizing that Callie, who did not give her brother asthma starts to change her life at rehab. Callie starts to speak in her sessions and try to make her life a better opportunity to live longer.
Personally, I have had a friend who use to starve herself. She thought she had to be like the people she would run around with. She was beautiful in every way. I told her time after time that we needed to get her help. The one day she passed out in front of my own eyes I knew something was very wrong. She ended up going to the hospital getting treatments from the doctors. She read plenty of magazines which broadcasted that diets are good for your body. One broadcast was lose weight in under ten days. Everybody should know that it was a lie. She has changed her life in many ways and looks a lot healthier. People should realize that don’t ever believe what you see.
