LAST DAY OF HIGH SCHOOL

Well today is my last as a pioneer. I moved to the Batesville School District in 7th grade. I was a little nervous but knew I would fit in with some crowd. My first friends were Alex Davidson and Shelby Ward. We all played ICYAA together and in the summer I would hang out with Alex. Well 7th grade I played basketball and found a new love which was track. That year I started for the 7th grade basketball team and ran for the 9th grade team in track. Let's just say I was fitting in very nicely at Batesville. In eighth grade I had another awesome year. I started for the junior varsity squad eventhough that some girls weren't to excited i was. I made more friends at Batesville Junior High. Then freshman year rolled around. I knew high school was near. As a freshman, you preety much rule the whole junior high. In basketball we wanted a district title. We knew we would have to face GCT in the end and that was gonna be a huge task. As the season rolled along we were defeated by GCT twice. Well we made our way into the district sweeping everybody but that Saturday was the final. This story is something I will never forget. The tourny was being held at our own Batesville High School Gym. Now, Batesville and GCT are rivals so everybody in the town wanted to see this good game. That Saturday morning, I got up and went to ref ICYAA games like usually do. That night I was getting ready for the biggest game I could ever imagine. My theme on this game was dogs eating away flesh of a dead animal ripping and tearing them apart. Now, dont' think I am some crazzzzzy person but that week I watched a movie about how a coach would put a wolf or some kind of carnavore in the locker room and wanted the girls to play that way. The game started and we jumped out to an early lead. The starting five was wanting a victory and we didn't stop. We worked together and kept leading and fighting as if the game would never end. That night we were named District Champs and GCT who was undefeated were left in tears. They made shirts that say 15-1 and I am so glad to be known that we were that 1 for them. As basketball ended I started back in track. That fall we had already won a Cross Country title and I would begin getting my 7 state rings I have now. In track, I was so excited to be apart of a State Championship winning spree. I was running with the girls i ran with in 7th grade. I knew alot of them and loved every single one of them. Well that year I had gotten Miss Optimistic for the city of Batesville and Miss BJHS two huge honors. That day I had to receive them was the state track meet. So after receving my awards I made my way to Hot Springs to run the 2nd leg of the 1600 meter relay. I was getting so excited to run and hopefully win a State Championship. Well as the race was about to start we were named the State Champs. We had such a big league that they needed to announce it. As I ran the 2nd leg I ran a 62 quarter and I was so proud of myself for all of that. My 10th grade year marked my very start in high school. Yes, i was nervous but I knew alot of people and knew if i needed help I would get it. As the year went past we won another state title in Cross Country and Track&Field. In 11th grade I had won another state Cross Country title but then basketball rolled around. On Jan 17th, 2009 I tore my ACL in a basketball game. My world changed from there on out. I had tore my ACL in half and then pulled a chip off my bone. My surgery happened to be when the ice storm hit so my family and I was without power. The pain and the whole moment that lasted 3.5 seconds still relives in me today. If i could go back I would but I don't have a time machine. That spring I was still doing physical thearpy and I had to be the manager for the track team but in May we were named state champs again. As the summer came I worked hard to get back into shape after being out 6 months. I started running again but with a brace and I trained for Cross Country. Yes, I did have complications with my knee swelling and hurting but I was getting stronger. I played basketball again scared I was gonna mess up my other knee. I had nightmares of tearing my right ACL in practice so everyday I prayed that would never happen. I sat on the bench and wasn't playing alot. I really didn't know why but I was getting frustrated with Coach Stave. I went to talk to her and she told me I wasn't in the shape I used to be and that I was slow. Well I went on but then I wasn't happy cause I wasnt' playing after working hard in practice. So I went up to her and said I quit. She told me I would be a failure and that if I couldn't stay with the basketball team what was i gonna do when i got married. I would be divorced in my marriage. She told me I would regret my decision..but when i left her office I had a huge smile on my face. I had made the right decision and to this day I still don't regret that I quit. I know I will prove her wrong and won't be divorced in my marriage or be a failure. As I was done with that my eye was set on track. I loved the sport and Coach Smith was an awesome coach. I ran and trained for track. As the season dwelled down we were gonna try to make another run at the state title. Unfortunely, we came up short to Camdem Fairview. Yes, I was very upset cause we were going for our 6th straight state title. But I realized life is going to move on and I will face bigger challenges. Counting down the days was preety easy first there was 120 then 75 then 45 then 30 then 15 then 5 and now today is my LAST DAY. I never thought I would see it but I have. I got up like my normal self this morning with a glowing smile. I rocked out to the backstreet boys all the way to the school. I walked in to school with all my friends and now I set here typing my last blog for Oral Comm. I have to say that high school has had its moments but I have grown stronger and wiser. I have awesome friends a great family and life could not be perfect right now. I will be attending Arkansas State Universtiy in the fall at Jonesboro and I am very excited. My roomate is Hanah Hutchison from Newport and my sweetmates are Brooke Crowell and Tanya Tye. I am so excited to be going there and being able to come home on the weekends. My life as a pioneer has been awesome and I would not change a thing. I have became a better person and I have met many extremely awesome people. I will cherish the moments I had at pep rallys, friday night football games, dances and everything else that goes with high school. My last day at Batesville will consist of laughter and smiles and cherish the last hours and then minutes I have here. My last phrase I would like to pass on is..." Relive the moments and cherish them because one day you blink and the next time you do your into another year. " Im turning another chapter in my life and next fall I will be started a new page. I am so excited and ready for the world. Thank you to everyone who has supported me my junior high and high school career. Thank you to the teachers who have brought their love towards teaching and made me smarter. Thank you to everyone at Batesville High School.

WESTSIDE STORRRRRY

A 1961 musical in New York:
A fight which is between an American gang known as the Jets and a rival gang, the Sharks who have moved into the Jets territory from Puerto Rico. The sharks start the fight whent they jump Baby John. When they are along, the Jets begin to discuss what they will do about the Sharks.Riff says that they wil end the conflict on their terms by challenging the Sharks to one last all out rumble. They deliver the challenge to the Sharks at the dance being held at the gym. Tony begins to drift away from the gang and the Jets does not believe he belongs in the gang anymore.Riff meets Tony, who now has a job at a loval store run by a man named Doo and tries to persuade him to come tothe dance. Maria is complainning to Bernardo's girlfriend, Anita that she never gets to do anything exciting. The Jets meet, and a dance takes place. In the excitement of it all, Tony and maria see each other, and fall in love. They begin to dance, but are interrupted by Bernado, who orders Maria to go home and tells Tony to stay away. Tony visits Maria and they decide to meet the next day at the bridal shop. The same night, after the dance, the Jets and Sharks meet to decide where their planned rumble will take place. Before the Sharks arrive, the jets, accompanied by a tomboy gets visited by tOfficer Krupke, who warns them not to cause trouble on his terms. When he leaes, they lampoon him, along with everybody else in the town. Tony bursts in while the Jets and Sharks are in conference, and demands that they have a fair fist fight instead. They all aagree. The next day, Maria and Tony meet at the bridal shop. Maria demands that Tony stop the fight altogether but before he leaves, they pretend to try on bridal clothes inthe shop and imagine their wedding together. The fight breaks out and when Tony tries tto stop it Bernado attacks him. Tony does not fight back. He gets called a Chicken by the Sharks. Then Riff comes behind Tony and punches Bernado and then Riff and Bernado pull out their knifes. Bernado stabs Riff then Tony grabs the knife and stabs Bernado (Maria's brother.) After Maria finds out Tony shows up and she is very angry. But she still loves Tony. Ice took over the Jets. He plots revenge on the Sharks for what happened to Riff. Anbodys appears from infiltrating the Sharks' turf and warns the Jets that Chino in no after Tony with a gun. Back at the flat, Tony and Maria are sleeping together. They decide to run away together. Then a little after that Lt.Schrank comes to ask questions about Bernado to Maria. She lies taht the boy she danced with was another Puerto Rican. She sends Anita to Doc's on the pretense that she is sending her to get some headache medicine. Anita really went to tell Tony that Maria is detained from meeting him. When Anita enters Doc's, the Jets maul her, simulating a gang rape. In black anger, Anita tells the wrong message saying Chino shot Maria for loving Tony. When doc breaks the news to Tony, he leaves the shop in despair. Tony then runs through the streets shouting Chino to kill him too. Onto the playground, he sees Maria, at first thinking that it is in his mind, realizing its her but then Chino shows up and shoots Tony. As the Jets and Sharks appear, Maria and Tony reaffirm their love, but Tony dies in her arms. Maria takes the gun and accuses everybody of Tony's death. The police and gangs arrive. The Jets lift Tony and the Sharks join them while Chino is taken by police. This musical was based on the hit play Romeo and Juliet.

fIDDLER ON THE ROOF

The Fiddler On the Roof starts out in a village that has tradition. They have a hebrew school and wear hats on their head for God. the girls work in the fields,sow,iron and cook. The setting is in Russia and the people are jewish. There are strange people in the town but nobody bothers one another they just got their own way. The houses are built of wood and sod. A husband is not to look at a husband is to look at according to the mother.The fiddler on the roof is the 1971 American Film adaptation of the Broadway musical. It was directed by Norman Jewison. The film centers on the family of Tevye, a jewish family living in the town of Anatevka, in Tsarist Russsia, in 1905. Anatevka is broken into 2 sections: a small Orthododx Jewish section and a larger Chrisitan sections. Tevye says "We don't bother them, and so far, they dont' bother us." Tevye is very poor, despite working hard, like others.He and his wife Golde, have 5 daughters and cannot afford to gie themn dowries so they have to rely on the village matchmake to find them husbands. Life in the shtetl of Anatevka is very hard and Tevye speaks of his difficulties of being poor but also of the community's constant fear of harassment from their non-jewish neighbors. The oldesst daughter does not have a husband so the other girls cannot get married because she isn't and she does not have a prospect. so they go to the matchmaker who sets her up with a rich old man. The fiddler appears on a roof because of the Jews' fears and danger. Tevye meet a student with political ideas in town. He invited him to stay at his home with his family, in exchange for perchik tutoring his daughters. The matchmaker, Tevye arranges a marriage for his oldest daughter, Txeitel, to Lazar Wolf a wealthy butcher. Tzeitel is in love with her childhood sweetheart, Motel the tailor, and begs Tevye not to maker her marry and old butcher. He agrees to get tzeitel and tevye out of the agreement with Lazar, tevye claims to have an nightmare, which he repeats to Golde. In the nightmare, he says that Golde's dead grandmother Tzeitel told him that Tzeitel is suppose to marry Motel, as it was decided in heaven. Lazar's late wife, Fruma sarah, warns Tevye that if Tzeitel marries Lazar, she will kill Tzeitel after 3 weeks of marriage. Golde concludes that dream was a message to be follwed from their ancestors, and Tzeitel and Motel arrange to wed. After one of Perchik's lessons with Bielke and Shprintze, tevyes second daughter, Hodel mock Perchik's interpreation of the Bible Story he told her sisters. He in turn criticizes for her hanging on the old traditions of her religion and tells her thta the world is changing. He dances with her becaue the opposites sexes dancing together is considered forbidden to Orthodox Jews.The two fallin in love,and Perchik tells Hodel that they changed in the old tradition. At Tzeitel and Motel's wedding a fight breaks out over whether a girl should be able to choose her own husband. Perchik addresses the crowd and says that since they love eachother, it should be left for the couple to decide and more fights break out due to asking Hodel to dance with him. The 2 begin to dance,, then the crowd warms the idea.The wedding is great joy. The military come and attack the jews and thier property.Perchik prepares to leave Anatevka to work for the revoultguion he proposes to HOdel and she accepts him. When they tell Tevye, he is mad that they decided to marry without his permission. Tevye tells Golde the truth and is prompted to re-evaluate their own arranged marriage.Perchik is arrested in Kiev and is exiled to Siberia. Hodel decides to join him. Tzeitel and Motel are parents and Motel finally buys that sewing machine.Everything is changeing in other towns but not like this.

NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION

Mr.Bean
A comedy. Mr.Bean drives somebody off the road and is a very bad driver.He locks his door with an actuHe al lock and key. He is a student and in class before his test whips out at least 30 pens. He tries to show off to his classmate. He brings many toys to class.He opens his exam papers and cannot bare to look at it.He does not kn ow how to do his test so he decides to look to his neighbor and and cheat on his exam. He uses different techniques to cheat and being very quiet about it. As hours past, Mr.Bean he realizes that there is a triginometry test and tries to finish. As the test is over, he drives a blue car off the road then pulls up to the beach and walks down many stairs. He decide he wants to go for a swim but turns to his left and there is a man sitting in the chair.He tries to put on this swimming trunks but puts them over his pants and has a hard time getting them off. He doesn't say anything just tries to make it look natural.At last he does it and the man to the left is blind.(End of Part 1)
Mr.Bean in his bright orange car makes his way to a church, but backs into the same car he ran off the road. He looks at the church and instead of paying attention to the preacher. He uses his inside pocket as a kleenex. He sits and falss asleep in church then boom he gets up.he almost falls into the person he sits next to then he ends up on the floor with his feet out in the air. He holds his eyes open with his hands and startles the man sitting next to him.He brings out some candy and makes much noise disturbing others. He gets his hand stuck in his pocket and hits the man next to him. He tries to sing the song but does not know it. part 2
Mr.Bean went to a restaurant and orderd steak tartar. he didn't realize that it was raw meat. He finds different ways to act like he ate it all. he stuffs a roll and fills a ladies purse. After dinner he goes to the movies and is standing in line trying to check his breathe and when he does he whips out his spray to freshen his breathe. He then sees that his shoes are not polished like the rest of the others so he uses the back of his pants to do so. he has a postcard in his pocket and he uses it to make a triangle. He then has a cuticle and tries to bite it then hje uses his zipper and gets his finger stuck. Then as he is bowing for the queen he hits her and knocks her out.

The curse of mr.bean
Mr.Bean pulls up to a parking garage and gets to the gate but canoot reach the button to push it to open. He goes in and there is a swimming pool. He sees the elephant slides and and then hears a whistle and gets to the end of the slide and realizes he cant get up. He then sees the high dive and runs toward it. He climbs up and looks down realzining its to high. He is in a state of mind. he walks bolegged to the end and gets in the dive position and falls backwards. He crawls off the edge and is hanging on then the kid goes and steps on his hand to make his fall. He loses his trunks. The whistle blows and a little girl has picked up his shorts. Its time to get out and he hides underneath the water then as he gets out hes naked. He gets in his car and goes to get He is then in the park now. he cuts breaks with scissors and then pulls out butter. He then uses his credit card to butter the bread. After, he has some lettuce he uses the waterfountain to wash it. He uses his sock to rinse the leettuce off. He has sardines in a jar and when he pulls them outa the jar he shakes them like they are alive then hits them on the bench and listen to see if they are still breathing. He has blackpeppercorns and he uses his shoe to make ground pepper. He sprinkles a little on his sandwhich. He sneezes and his sandwhich flops out of his hands. He goes to the movies with a girl. As the movie starts out a person comes out of the closet and he screams then falls down in his chair. He wants to leave but the girl doesn't want to. he treis to cover up themovie an he puts his sweater over his neck and she turns to him and screams. he uses the popcorn bucket to hide the movie. As the movie ended he got really scared. Then Mr.Bean was off.

TO MUCH HOMEWORK FOR STUDENTS

Have you ever had to stay up until one o'clock in the morning trying to finish your homework? Well most students today are doing that and struggling to find time for anything else. To much homework for students causes stress, loss of fitness, and cause obesity.
First, the world is changing and more oppertunites are coming. Stress can cause intrapersonal communication. The average school starts at 8 am and ends around 3:05 pm. The hours spent are eight during the day. After children go home they want to be outside because they have been stuck in a building all day long. Children can be stressed because they will have three tests to study for the next day on top of five more other classes they take that might assign homework. I have stayed up until two o'clock in the morning studying for homework after a long track meet. By the time I get home I want to sleep but instead I have three classes of homework I have been assigned to do. Some nights I have had so much homework I will start to cry and get headaches due to the stress level. In a news article for CNN, C.Weaver of New Jersey answered saying children are in school for 8 hours a day, they do not need to come home and do another two or three hours of homework. That is more than a full-time job. Children will tend to slack off with so much homework because that reduces less stress. Link to article about stress

Second, homework can interfer with kids interpersonal communication. If children have to much homework this can lead to lack of a social life, which may prevent teens from developing normal personal and leadership skills. Third, isn't obesity rising in the United States? A fact is homework can cause obesity in students. A teen who is constantly sitting down will begin to lose fitness. Lack of exercise can cause obesity, heart disease, and loss of concentration. The two former are dangerous to physical health, and the latter very important for a student to properly function correctly. In conclusion, to much homework can be a fault with the communication process,health problems,and stress levels to be to high. After reading articles about "To Much Homework" there has been positive and negative feedback. We are at a scare as our economy is getting worse and less jobs are creating students are wanting to be doctors and lawyers which means more homework and study time.

BANNING IPODS

The article is about students using ipods in the classroom in today's schools across the United States. The reason for all communication devices is so kids won't cheat which seems to be a trend across our country. I disagree on this article because not all kids will cheat. Some children find quiet time to listen and enjoy their music or podcast instead of noisy peers around. I personally don't listen to my ipod during school but other students in my class do listen. They work quietly while doing their work and they do not disturb others in the classrooom. EARTHQUAKE,GLOBAL WARMING,& EUROPEAN STORM

The Earthquake that hit Chile made a major impact on people's lifestyles. The earthquake led to tsunami waves. The 8.8 magnitude quake, killed at least 730 people maybe more. The hardest hit area was the communities along Chile's south-central coast which is closest to the quake's epicenter. Three-hundred homes were damaged, families ran for their lives. When they came back there was nothing but ruins of their house's floating. In the news, an estimated 180,000 people are homeless, with 10,000 homes uninhabitable.

The global warming issue has always been a problem for the United States this year.Since the eastern part of the United States has been brutality beaten with snow storms this past winter the only thing that can be the cause is global warming. The recent scandals have made the criticism of climate scientists much more. The heavy snowstorms have been a big issue to argue warming is a myth. Even though, scientists have pointed out that warmer global temperatures have increased the rate of evaporation from the oceans, pulling more moisture into the atmosphere which is causing the heavier downfalls of both rain and snow. Over 1 billion has been used to clean up cities with the five feet of snow some have gotten.


The European Storm has flooded the streets of France's Atlantic coast. People are still trapped in their homes and over 100 people are dead across Western Europe. The storm was called, Xynthia, which blew into France early Sunday with hurricane winds,flooding ports, and destroying homes which left 1 million household without power. It also struck Belgium,Portugal,Spain,and parts of Germany. The president Nicolas Sarkozy pledged 4 million dollars in emergency aid. The storm killed many people mostly to drowning. The storm caused mudslides in Portugal's Azores islands which led to people missing or killed. The storm has left Western Europe in a total distress.

These stories are similar because they all have to deal with natural disasters and the weather. Chile, is in need of help and needing relief money to repair damages. The snowstorms due to global warming have caused major damage such as power outages and road clean up. The European Storm has affected Western Europe leaving over $5 million in damages. Many people has died due to the natural diseasters.

The earthquake that hit Chile has put the country in distress. After, being rocked by a 8.8 magnitude quake, Chile was then hit by tsunami waves reaching as high as 10 feet. The country is in need of help trying to repair what they have lost and to receive food and water. The thought of being hopeless and without electricity and food is not even imaginable. I wish we could help the people get back on their feet. During the storm, the people were lost and did not know that a tsunami was going to hit to. The people of Chile need our help in making them know that life will continue and there is still hope.
